Michael gets a glass called water glass, which comes in two different textures...he uses the small ripple water glass and
uses colored matte board for the under layer.  Since the water glass has a texture and doesn't sit flat on the matte board,
when a light is present, the glass casts a shadow which gives that ripple effect.
Then he paints the wakes, etc. on the surface of the glass.
